This might only be of interest to TA/TB Tickford owners.
Many years ago I foolishly bought an incomplete basket case TA Tickford,
TA-2962, Tickford number 4449. The car is registered with the MGCC T
Register as #3420. Over the years I have collected most of the missing parts
and now have enough bits to start thinking about restoring the car. I have
some questions:

1-The Octagon Car Club Bulletin, June, 2005, issue no. 421, featured a red
TA Tickford on the cover as well as several other photos. This Tickford has
headlights that are more elongated than standard TA/TC Lucas 140 headlamps.
Any comments about these headlamps being correct for TA Tickfords?

2-Mike Goodman, Van Nuys, California, sold me a pair of yellow/gold main
tacko and speedo instruments which he said were correct for the TA Tickford.
These instruments appear to be VA/SA. Paddy Willmer says these yellow/gold
instruments are right for the TA Tickford. Anybody comment on these
instruments being right for the TA Tickford?

3-I need some TA Tickford door hinges, anybody got any spares. I know I can
buy them new from SVW but thought I may be lucky enough to find spare hinges
to fill out my needs.

4-Several years ago I bought a collection of TA Tickford bits from the
estate of Jack Berry, California, through Mike Goodman. I understand Jack
Berry had two TA Tickfords that he started to restore. Any ideas where these
two cars are now? One is TA-2851, Tickford number 4422. I know they were
somewhat broken up as I got some of the parts but the rolling chassis and
bodies must still be hiding in some garage. But where?

5-Any back ground information available on my TA-2962 Tickford? Car was
originally registered 1n 1939 to a Haylock, St. Just, Sandbourne Road,
Bowreworth, UK. Next know owner was Ken Spencer, Littleton, Mass. period
about 1971/74. Ken bought a "better" Tickford, TA-2736, and removed a
removed a bunch of parts from TA-2962 for his TA-2736. Then Dave Osborn
owned TA-2962 about 1977 to 1979. I bought the rolling chassis/body from
Dave on 23 June, 1979 and imported the car to Ontario.
What colour was TA-2962 originally? Upholstery colour? Original UK
registration number?
I'm looking for any details about the car.

Hi Bob,

Good to see the TA tickford is getting it's turn.

Can't comment on the headlights except to say that both of mine had the 'U'
shaped lenses and that I have an extra set of lenses. Also have an extra set
of dipper units that go into the shell.

I did locate the gent who has my old tub, it is available , I would offer
$200 and it is probably yours. It needs work. I will throw in the TA tickford
doors which also need work. Sorry, no hinges.

The Yellow gold instruments sound VA/SA. My SA ones would fit and function
but would not be correct in my opinion. However, with MG, anything may happen.
I do have a rebuilt set as new from the gent in England that rebuilds them
that could be available.

TA2962 probably shared the same space with TA2969 at Salmons. Originally
mine was a two toned red, and , according to the continuency registration, had
around 30 owners . TA2969 has Salmon's #4489, at least the 44 is the same.

Ken Spencer sent me some info on his Tickford, I will look up and see if it
is yours or the second one. I was in touch with him in 76 and 77.

little motor car and you and Carolyn will look smashing in it! Had 22 M.G.s
on the course for the 27th Range Line Mews GP.

I had missed your close examination-was looking at the young lady. I
have a feeling that someone had a go at the car as the pin beading is not
correct-too big and the hood looks like vinyl? The running boards are
replacements-are they wood as on a couple of cars that I have seen.? You
will note the tail and ? turn lite lamps and license plate lamp are adds.
So it could be the car had replacement headlamp pots as I have never seen
anything but the 140 type pots? Rather neat looking. I am not sure if
Registration FEL306 is the original number but it is not on our Registry
list, so we have not been able to track the car down.

I concure with Paddy, as again, I have never seen any thing but the
flat faced green Jaegers as on the TC. Some SVW owner might be most happy to
swap? The TA/B Tickfords all had the same instruments as the roadsters, I
believe.

These are really tough to find and Peter at SVW Spares might be your
last resort. You may be aware that there is a USA "Salmons and Sons" run by
Tom Metcalf-well, one could call it that as he sure is doing extraordinary
rebuilds on our little Tickfords. I saw TB0440 that Tom did for Len Star
this last summer and it is just outstanding. Maybe Tom could suggest a
source?

The picture of the white Tickford in the Registry List is of TA2851
which I took in 1987 in Jack's garage. He bought it and TA3112 from Barry
Walker and intended to make one from the two. After we lost Jack, one
considerable gentleman, I lost track of TA2851-still lost, but the remains
of TA3112 ended up in Holland where David Tankard TA2848 in the UK, picked
up the bits sans engine and gearbox.

Wish I could help more on your car, but I have passed on all we
have in the Registry. Your notes here have added to our records. TA2736 is
the car that Gene Roth rebuilt to a prize winning standard and now lives
with Mike Leith in NC.

If you are looking for specific bits, I'll try to help locating as
Lee Jacobsen has and perhaps Tom can. I saw that Barry Walker has the Luvax
AR shocks on offer for 382 Pounds for the fronts and 391 for the
rears-that's each. If you are in need of those, I believe I know where some
are for a tad more modest a price, if they are used on a Tickford.
