I'm with Madhu. If an elephant was taking a shower in my garden - I
wouldn't be worried about the drainage either.

Subject: AW: [mg-tabc] wire for wipermotor
Hi Charles Hill,
For the DC supply ( 12 V in this case ) you need two
conductors. But both conductors had to have the minimum thickness to carry
the energy required for the motor ( Wiper motor in this case).
So simply this :: you need an 1/2" pipe (hose) for your shower water
supply . OK.
But an Elephant shower you need a 4" hose pipe. That is about the Conductor
diameter.
In your bath the drainage pipe much bigger than ( min 2") the shower pipe so
that the dirty water can flow back.
If you have a shower pipe of 1" and the drainage is only 1/2". what will
happen ? Dirty water will never flow out. This is earth cable.
If the elephant is taking a shower in the garden you do not care about the
drainage. Water never goes through the drainage. That is what MG is doing.
Using the chassis for earth. ( drainage )
This is a problem in all "auto electric". Even in the modern cars.
Sorry for the mad comparison. So do not ignore the earth cable.
Madhu

Betreff: Re: [mg-tabc] wire for wipermotor
John,
I suspect that is not the original wire. It sounds like the replacement
wire sold by MOSS and others. The gauge of the 2 wires is way too small
for the current draw of the wiper motor. Even using the 2 wires as one
side of the circuit and the shield as the other is questionable. I
suspect it is originally sourced as some sort of shielded phone line.
When I rebuilt my windshield, I used some regular 14ga wire and covered
the small part that shows between the windshield and cowl with a length
of black braided shoestring with the ends cut off. Maybe not original
or concours but looks nice to me and is functional.

Charles Hill
