K&N Filter # RC 4340

Good-day all:
I have been trying to locate one of the above filters, north of the 49th., and have been running into nothing but brick walls as a result. I explained, at the local NAPA outlet, that it was a specialty item and was stopped short, in my tracks, when they requested: ' What was the filter for? '. My explanation met with several blank faces and agonising looks especially as I could give no modern applications whatsoever!
Finally, a staff member, after looking through several books, claimed there was no data listed for that filter in his files. To confuse this issue even more, instead of using K&N Part Numbers, NAPA uses it's own.
After numerous phone calls, a dim light was shed by the local area importer. Yes, I was informed, the filter did exist but, it could not be confirmed as being in stock at this time. And, it would be at least two weeks, from today, before that could be checked out you see, that is when all this area's needs are scheduled, for dispensing, to the parent warehouse. Furthermore; there could be no guarantee that it would be in stock at that time either. Now, if it was, I could expect a wait of from four to six weeks for delivery. If I wanted it by courier, at a cost of over half as much as the purchase price, after all the
' brokerage fees ', etc., were applied, that would only mean a two week wait!
Another stipulation, required by NAPA being as it would be a specialty order, besides NAPA's non-returnable policy, (the item would be the result of a foreign transaction), was full payment in advance.
I have tried emailing K&N, directly, and not had any luck going that route.
I should like to enquire if any member, on the U.S.-West Coast, could see their way clear to price out a K&N # RC 4340 Filter plus the U.S. Postal Service ( not UPS ) cost for mailing it to the West Coast of Canada, please contact me off web.
Respectfully:
