Dear All,
For the last 30 years or so I have had a dismantled gearbox in my garage
which I think is probably from a Morris 10M. This was attached to a 10M
engine which powered my TA when I bought it in 1972. Does anyone know
whether any parts of this are interchangeable with TC or TD? If so or even
if not would it be of use to anyone on the list? If so, I am open to
offers, otherwise I will try to get rid of it on Ebay.
Regards.

Re: Morris 10M gearbox
Graham,
If this gearbox was attached to a Morris 10 XPAG type engine, few parts are
interchangeable with TC or TD. Close on a TD but the input clutch shaft and
cluster gear are different as are all the gears. I THINK the input shaft and
cluster and gears can be used in a TD if using the whole assembly but the
ratios are not correct with big gap between 3rd and 4th. You need to use the
TD output shaft. Pity the next owner who has to sort out the parts on the
next rebuild!
The complete gearbox may be useful in a TC but the ratios are bad and the
box is weak so I would not do it unless as a last resort. Not sure if the TC
remote will fit, can't remember.
Keep the bell housing as it is OK for an early TD, straight swap, and can
be modified to suit a TC.
If you find a ggod place for this gearbox, let me know as I have one left
over from 1958 when I bought a complete Morris 10 engine and gearbox for
$15.00 Cdn$, about 5 GBPounds at the time. I needed the crankshaft for my
TD. Of course, like you, I kept the gearbox, now in pieces.
