Brake assembly question

Hello Group
I have had my front end apart for so long I forgot how the brakes are assembled.
Does the thackeray spring go inside the brake shoes against the back plate or does it go outside the brake shoes under the horseshoe clip?
I can not find a good picture of the assembly in any of my books.

I had assembled them that way and then began to doubt it was correct.
