My Jaguar 1954 XK120SE is original equipment and has the following markings on the Lucas oval brass tag: "Special Equipment C45PVS/5 224562B GC-51 4/54" I was always under the impression that the 'P' following the CV45 meant positive ground, but I am not sure about this. I am pretty sure the 224562B mark is the serial number. Certainly the 4/54 mark is the date of manufacture. Mick, I don't know any more than you do on this. Don't know if this is any help or just confuses the issue but a UK Morgan owner came up with this list trying to find the correct equipment for is Series I Morgan 4/4: Lucas part number codes: Armstrong Siddeley = C Austin = BN Bedford = P BSA = AC Citroen = CJ Commer = DC Daimler = BS Dodge = GF Hillman = S Humber = T Jowett = AJ Karrier = DC Lanchester = M MG = DA Morris = A Riley = CH Rover = G SInger = BP SS = V, GC Standard = V Talbot = BQ Triumph = X Vauxhall = P Wolseley = AA This is for prewar stuff and I couldn't find any correlation with my TC generator number. Mick, My Lucas Master Catalogue #400D EX indicates 228331 is a generator for a 1939 MG Midget. Superceded by 22452 which was the post war TC generator. Parts appear to be interchangeable between the two.
