Stumped by the Sump

Post by TMcNam4510@aol.com » Fri Jun 03, 2005 6:17 pm

The adventure continues............, The sump on TC2850 has an oil pickup that is about 2 3/4 inches in diameter and 3 inches high. There is a copper like screen that fits up inside to strain the oil. I found what looked like the remains of a gasket where the "housing" and screen lid come together. Question 1, was that a gasket or just 50 plus years of crud? If it is a gasket, does anyone have a part number? Question number 2, is there any reason not to use spring washers on the 2 bolts that hold the nearby baffle plate in place? I found none there but it seemed fairly tight when I removed it for cleaning. As ever, thanks, Tom TC 2850, disassembled. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
