Hub nut rotation

In trying to remove the rear axle hub nut from TC 5850, it appears from the visible threads that the right (driver's) side tightens clockwise and loosens counter-clockwise. This is opposite what the knock-off does. I would have expected them to be the same.
Can anyone verify this for me before I apply excessive force in the wrong direction? I've hit the nut pretty hard in both directions and so far it hasn't budged. (Thought I had a line on a tool to use, but it didn't fit.)
Hope you all have a great weekend. Later this morning, my wife and I are heading off to a winery in Julian for a car show with one of our new members Bob Davenport. He has the most beautiful super-charged 1949 TC ever and was nice enough to let me drive it last weekend. Wow.

Doug,
I assume you are trying to remove the wheel bearing retaining nut on the
axle tube after the axle shaft is removed? If so, the right side of the car
nut is normal right hand thread and tightens clockwise. The left side nut is
left hand thread. These nuts should be tight, 120 ft-lbs is suggested, so
you will have to hit it hard with a drift to loosen it. A better solution is
a special wrench from a 4WD vehicle? Or use a 2" hex nut available from
Roger F. or myself.
