TC Front Wings Needed

Hello Fellow Listers:
I recently purchased TC#1549 and am in the process of restoring it. It is in wonderful shape except for the front wings. There is excessive bondo on the front portions of them, the wire edge is gone (among other portions) and the shape is really bad. My paint/body guy says they are unrepairable (at least by him and a couple others that he has consulted).
Are there any replacement front wings out there??? TC/1549 is, of course, and "early" car, so I'd prefer to have the early wings, but If necessary, I'd settle for later ones.
Please Help, I'm currently in Dire Straits.
Thanks in advance,
Tim Moorhead

Great band, Dire Straits..hope it works out for you. Are you doing lead or
backup?
Best,

Hi Tim Moorhead,
It is better to repair the old one. Last year I replaced
some part of the mudguard. There are good people in the body repair shop
doing patch work. They can replace the damaged part with new sheet metal of
the old mudguard. It is not complicated. If you replace most of them have a
different fit and different shape. You had work on the new one to get
correct fit.

Anything can be repaired. The kids who pass for
mechanics and technicians nowadays just haven't got
the skills or the culture of fixing things rather than
replacing them so if you can find an old boy with some
experience behind them who would probably enjoy doing
some real work. The only question is is it worth it?
Repairing original parts can be a ba** aching job and
take longer than making new but it does have the
advantage of preserving the car's history. There are
several people over here who can make from new (Steve
Gilbert certainly does and probably Andy Knig) - but
at a price and shipping would be prohibitive I expect.

Gilbert's wings are good, but if you are a little persnickity you will
notice that the blend area between where the wheel arch is and where the
area that goes into the running board locates is a little bit ... different
from stock.
The wings are still extremely nice, and the cost really is less than you
might think.
I know a guy in Ohio who is a metal magician. He has done and is doing some
work for me, and does anything you might want with fenders. He isn't cheap,
but quality never is....
Best,
Ray

If necessary, I'd settle for later ones.http://www.abingdonsparesllc.com/specials.html) they list a used,
late model right front fender needing minor repair but no rust for
sale for $450. They also list new front fenders for sale too so you
might want to check with them.
I have a pair of late (I think) front fenders that I'm not going to
use but I'll have to check out their condition. If I remember
correctly the front of them are okay but they're rusted out where
they bolt to the running boards (an easy fix for a body shop I'd
imagine). I'll try to get some photos for you this weekend and if
you can't find anything else maybe we can make a deal on these.

Dear Ian Thomson,
There are still people with this skill available. Two
months back I bought 6,5 kg brass sheet. This person made two silencer
muffler for my Horex motorcycle out of it. It is buffed and polished. Paid
about 40$ for the labour. Most of the European and some of the US companies
are getting so many things manufactured from Asia for a song. So that is
another chapter. Now the politics will come in. I better stop it.
