Apparently, they are going to try to use MGB cranks. Cheap, and dependable. Also, I have about 90039 of them.. This should give an engine of the same dimensions of the XPAG unit. Dear All I must be missing something here. To paraphrase the Irishman, if I had wanted a decent car I would not have started from here. The TC is a car of its time and development. It has a number of faults, all of which have been analysed ad nauseam in this forum with the recommended solutions, none of which seem to include rebuilding the original back to the correct specification and enjoy it for what it is. The TC cannot have sold so well if it had been a bad car in the first place. Any dog is a dog whatever the badge on the front. Am I alone in thinking that by the time you have a non TC: steering box, engine, back axle, gear box etc etc that perhaps one would be better off starting again with a Morgan or kit car where 50 years of development can be better used rather than removing the (idiosyncratic) soul of a TC. Dear Paroor I have driven 110,000 + miles in my TC on the original steering box (with period Unicraft top cover conversion). The biggest issue with the handling was with the front axle and suspension, not the steering box itself. If the original components are properly rebuilt to original specification, the car drives as it should, very well. I regularly drive at over 80 mph on normal roads.
