Combined side/ flasher in the UK..

Hiya group, on TC 2259 the flasher light units are Honda motorcycle items, and while the rear`s being at least chromed are not too bad, the front`s are ghastly....However, I`m about to replace the sidelights and see that there is an insert available from the Complete Auotmobilist to have the 21watt amber indicator bulb AND a standard 6watt sidelight bulb in the same lamp....very neat but is it OK for the UK.? .........Tweed TC 2259

I've used the unit available from _
http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/_
(
http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/) for some time now and they are really excellent.
They look original but give a much safer amber light for the front flasher
while retaining the white sidelight.

Thanks Ian, that`s good enough for me...I was`nt sure about there being a `directive` coughed up by some Eurocrat who frowned on the idea....but I suppose if it`s acceptable for the M.O.T test that`s all that matters. ( 2259 is having one tomorrow....watch this space! )......I have`nt looked yet but are the amber push-in`s readily available?.......Tweed TC2259 Royston.

Tweed,
I think the small amber bulbs are the same as those used in the flasher
repeaters on the wings of modern cars.

G'day,
Just two bob's worth....
Why not simply fit the guts out of a TF parkers?
Admittedly you won't have amber lenses but it would look a lot neater
than anything else and probably around the same cost.

Thanks again Ian, I emailed s-v-c and they have spares at 1.00 each but say they are the same as some motorcycle bulbs. 2259 sailed through it`s M.O.T. on Tuesday and I asked the tester for his thoughts on the mod. The car does not HAVE to have them anyway, but if they are there, they have to comply with the rules..which is fair enough . After reading his `bible` over a cup of coffee, we came to the conclusion that it`s as clear as mud... but he said he would probably pass it next year when I`ve done the conversion, depending on whether or not he`d had a barney with his misses that morning ........it`s nice when the human element plays it`s part is`nt it........
All the best Tweed.

Better get her name so that you have more control over the inspection (call
her the day before).

I seem to remember either Roger Parker or Neil Cairns
(apologies to the wrong one) wrote a piece about the
intricacies and inconsistencies in the UK MOT test
about a year ogo in one of the magazines (possibly
Octagon). Can anyone remember this?
