LED Lamps

Has anyone tried the LED tail light mod offered by Shadetree? Seems
like a good way to get a lot of light with minimal current, but I'm
wondering how bright it really is and if there is significant loss of
brightness when viewing at an angle.

Thanks! One last question I missed... Is the operation of the lamps
changed in the LED version? The "brake with" and "tail with" photos
look identical.

Steve,
Only change was the addition of the LED kit. The "before" is about as
bright as most of them are - you can buy brighter bulbs but even that
doesn't help that much.

Wow, that's quite a difference! One question, was any other electrical
work carried out i.e. cleaning connectors? Is the "before" photo really
as bright as the lamps should be on a TC? Thanks so much!

Steve,
The only change is the guts of the tail lamp. The operation is exactly
the same. The tail light goes on with the light switch, and goes
brighter with the brakes. It's more noticeable in the evening than at
noon...but you're not going to be driving with your lights on at noon
anyway.

I doubt that Shadetree would sell anything that is not a superior
improvement. The owner Skip Kelsey, is on this list.

Steve
I put them in my taillamps. They do make a difference and are easy to
install.

Skip Kelsey is a first rate guy who sells stuff that works. If it doesn't,
he will be the first to tell you.

Yes, I have them installed on my TC and it's hard to believe how much brighter they are, buy them.

Hello all: I would suggest that you look at this website, HYPERLINK
"
http://www.superbrightleds.com/"www.superbrightleds.com, they have a
lot of information on LEDs which replace regular 1157 bulbs. I have
contacted them re: positive ground replacement bulbs. The positive
ground did not appear to be an issue. However my limited knowledge of
electronics questions this. Regards June Hingston (TC#5302)
