This guy seems to be willing to cheat everybody he can. There have been many
negative comments about him on the list.

It seem to me to be time to have someone make a PERSONAL VISIT TO THIS GUY AS HE IS CHEATING MANY PEOPLE. He is using EBAY in many strange ways. Note his style of advertising. He retains the right to sell locally and uses it to pull adds off if the price seems not to his liking. He tried to cheat me but fortunately I did not fall for it.

On a different vein to this email, what is the oil can that came with the
TC? I thought it should either be Duckhams NOL or Castrol-Wakefield. How
does a Shell can command a $175 "buy it now" price?

Why anyone would spend $125 on a suspect vendor for an oil can of dubious
virtue is an excellent question. Especially since a simple Ebay search in
the UK sourced a Duckhams can at a very reasonable price...and an
"original" 1930s Morris can at a bit pricey 24 Pounds...but it has the
original bracket.

Just last week I placed a bid of $20 on a "like new" Blower Manual and when
the auction was close to finished, and I the only bidder and winning at
$9.95, the item was withdrawn - "sold locally", I was told. Based on the
string below I checked out lacclairespares list of items and I discovered it
was the same vendor being discussed. The Blower Manual is available again!

On a similar Ebay topic, you often see BSW ( British Standard Whitworth) tap
and die kits offered for sale as being "suitable for maintaining MGs of
various models and other British cars". This is not true. BSW taps and dies
are almost useless for our cars. The only BSW bolt ( that I know of ) on a T
type is the generator adjusting top bolt. BSF ( British Standard Fine ) taps
and dies are correct.
A set of BSW taps and dies just sold on Ebay for about $225.00 US$, I hope
the buyer was not mis-lead by the description. I informed the sellor of the
incorrect description but got no response and no clarification on the Ebay
item before it closed.

Hello Fred, Bob,
For what it's worth my experiance of E-bay has been pretty
negative. It seems that E-bay makes up rules as it goes along and
goods are rarely quite EXACTLY as adverised ("slight damage"
seems to be a euphemism for "scrap: fit for melting down only").
In short, the emptor should most definitely caveat!

I note that lacclairespares has NINE negatives since changing names in '04.
I wonder what name he was using previously? All of you who have been
cheated by this yo yo needs to get onto eBay.
They WILL take him off......
Best regards,
Ray
