Has anyone had any recent experience with the newest, latest and greatest version of the Moss crank seal? This seal is made of graphite-impregnated Teflon with a redesigned lip. Did you use a Speedi Sleeve? I'm sorry to bring this up again, but with these "improvements" the picture changes. How long has this seal been available? Thank you, Ric Maitzen Northbrook, IL

I talked with Skip Kelsey this afternoon, and he allowed as how there have been no problems with the new high speed material seal. Assuming it is installed correctly! Best, Ray "Conlige suspectos semper habitos!"

hi Don - I sure hope you mis-read that g/tee, 'cos since 1983 you have clocked up something over 416 million cycles, unless you go jogging, which in my book only wears things out faster. Sort of like consistently pushing an ageing XPAG over 5000rpm... On the other hand, just driving a TC anywhere is guaranteed to get the old ticker beating a little faster : - )) Happy MotorinG ! Finally have time and a new seal, 2 in fact.  I've concluded that the seal is not made for the Speedy Sleeve. The firts seal leaked and had visible signs of damage when I took it out. The damage could have been done when removing it so I'm not sure. I've tried to fit the new seal over the Speedy Sleeve and wrapped a piece of thin electrical tape over the edge. This was aftre the razor sharp edge of the sleeve had cut two seals. I couldn't get the seal over the sleeve so took the sleeve off and wrapped tape around the edge. The seal went over the plastic insert tool but would not ride over the tape onto the sleeve. In the interests of finance I have fitted the seal without the sleeve. The lip is making tight contact with the crank. 3 of us have looked at it, one a Mercedes Engineer, and reckon the seal would have been cut by the sleeve if pushed any harder. The tape was cutting. In less that an hour I will have the engine running on the floor. I'm taking 5-1 that it leaks. A Pensive Norman TC10178 ps My emails are playing up so some of you may have received multiple answers or no answer. I think I'll go to Firefox as I'm fed up with Outlook breaking down. It's worse than a women.
