TC resurrection It had been stored in component form for years all around the previous owner's house and roof space. Reminds me of a story my Grandfather told. . When he was employed at a Chevrolet factory in up state New York in the 20's, one of the line assembly workers smuggled out the parts for a complete car. Well almost. . he had been at it for some time and stored the parts at his home, preparing to reassemble them. However, the next to last fender proved impossible to secret in his clothing and he was finally apprehended. Sally Carroll -- My scanner says No has been virus found in this outgoing message. Hi all, Just to add to this thread, new bolts and "aerotite" locknuts. (These are the type that do not have the nylon insert) and you will sleep soundly in the knowledge that your big ends are not going to part company. Regards, Ron Benson (its snowing again!)

Hi All, Perhaps another reason cotter pins and bolts are not used is cost and extra time of assembly in an engine plant. So they may be better, but not cost effective in today's quest for low cost alternatives. I'll stay with the cotter pins. No Lee I actually think they are proven to be not efective. Have you ever given thought about what is holding the main cap stud in the block when the castle nut and cotter pin is properly installed??? But I do like cotters in my wheel nuts. Hi Joe, Right now I have my SA engine out of the car on an engine stand. It has the cotter pins. What type of nuts and bolts should I use? Check with a speed shop? Thanks, Lee [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
