I do of course have a "cottage industry" called "Mad Metrics" which many of you have used.   For these engine stands bolts 90mm long are needed, and the longest I have are 80mm for the rocker pedestals. Therefore, either studs will have to be used, or I can re-thread some HT socket cap head bolts (my preferred option).   ocTagonally   Roger   On Sun, Oct 13, 2019 at 5:30 PM norman verona norman@frenchblat.com [mg-tabc] mg-tabc-noreply@yahoogroups.com> wrote:

It depends on the engine stand. Mine requires a bolt length of 70mm to secure an XPAG engine. I use 80mm with a few washers so I can get as many threads in as possible. - Steve Simmons, TC8975 On 10/13/2019 12:37 PM, Roger Furneaux roger.46tc@gmail.com [mg-tabc] wrote:
hi Norman - they are called BAPP and seem to be suppliers to the structural industry, I could not see anything other than metric... The bellhousing bolts in question are 8 x 1.0mm, as are the majority in the XPAG (lists are available, no need to repeat here) and I have everything, either with modern 13mm AF heads (only a tad smaller than the 5/16" BSF size) or with correct heads (at greater expense). I do of course have a "cottage industry" called "Mad Metrics" which many of you have used. For these engine stands bolts 90mm long are needed, and the longest I have are 80mm for the rocker pedestals. Therefore, either studs will have to be used, or I can re-thread some HT socket cap head bolts (my preferred option). ocTagonally Roger

For sure you want the full length of bolt shank to be load bearing& pass into washers. Threaded portion of bolt at clamped joint a serious no no! -Bill HyattSent from my iPhone

The washers are placed at the head of the bolt. The welded standoffs are at the engine side. I posted a photo of my setup a few days ago. - Steve Simmons, TC8975 On 10/16/2019 11:56 AM, Bill Hyatt wrote:
