Thanks Clive

I ll mozie off to the shop in the morning and get a replacement and see what happens...

Darryl,
The filter element might have collapsed in sone way.
Some oil filters are quite weak and can collapse after a time. Others have a rubber non return seal that again can fail and block things up. Some were designed for a "Reverse" oil flow and that again will cause a collapse.
Finally some early spin on units had the oilways wrongly drilled, so you got reversed flow into the filter and filter collapse even with the "right" filter
So first off, repl;ace the filter and see if you still have the problem.

Thanks Eric
My dad and I restored the car 25 years ago, and I seem to remember something similar happening, but can remember what the fix was.
Car had been standing for the last 2 years, have got it running again and have done 100 plus miles over the last month with no hassles. Car has just ticked over 4000 miles since so still nice and fresh. Car has probably done no more than 500 miles over the last 10 years.
Car has a spin on filter, could it not be the filter that has deteriorated over 2 (or 10, don t know when it was last changed as my dad passed away last year, so can t ask him)years of standing and is now being bypassed?
Kind Regards

Hi Darryl,
Could be either the pressure relief valve in the oil pump or the gauge is playing up. Oil pressure should be limited to 60 psi to reduce stress on the oil pump and reduce leaks. Suggest you unscrew the large brass nut on the bottom of the oil pump and withdraw the oil pressure relief valve assembly and clean.
Regards,
Eric.

Subject: [mg-tabc] TC Cold Oil Pressure 95PSI all of a sudden
Hi All
Quick question
Had my TC out for a run last week and all good with Oil pressure. 80PSI cold and 30PSI hot at idle after a 50 mile run at 60-70mph
Have just started the car and pressure cold at idle is 95PSI.
Anyone have ideas on what the issue might be?
Cheers
Darryl
