Bruce, we stayed years ago at the Abingdon Lodge, near the factory site. While in Abingdon don t miss the MGCC club office that has instructions and directions to MG sites. Try to get to the Magic Midget Pub and the Boundry House Pub (former home of Cecil Kimber) At the Boundry house, by the side entrance is a bronze plaque, that we (NEMGTR) placed there 29 years ago. We are planning on arriving at Gatwick Airport in earlier September, I want to take a train somewhere close to Abingdon. , Somewhere my wife and can either stay that is in Abingdon or somewhere close. The idea is once we arrive at that location in the morning ,I will visit these MG sites and my wife will sleep in a hotel after a long Trans-Atlantic flight.
