TC Dipstick Dimensions

Post by arm@telus.net » Wed Jun 26, 2019 1:31 am

Greetings all, Ever since I acquired my TC several decades ago it has had a non standard dip stick. It is much longer than the correct TC version but has a line scribed on it to show a full sump so it's been serviceable. I just bought a 'proper' TC dipstick from Moss and I note it has a an adjustable collar as a stop. Could someone with an original TC dipstick provide me with the overall length and the length from bottom (oily) tip to the stop collar? After my recent deposit of several litres of oil on the highway I'd like to know what's what when refilling the sump. The more dimensions the better! As a side note. I found the reason for the broken oil line. The bracket that is supposed to clamp the filter to the block is AWOL so the filter assembly. a spin on adapter, was being held in place by the two oil lines, in and out. Vibration in a traffic jam, very high heat and some hand throttle to avoid vapour lock and it was all just too much. Splisville and I did my Jed Clampett impersonation on the side of the highway. Thanks in advance, Ross

Ross, The sump takes 1 1/8 UK Gallons ~ thats 5.1 liter / 5.4 U.S. qt / 4.5 imp. qt. Drain sump, fill with that much, and set the dipstick accordingly.
