Rocker Bolts

Post by Steve S » Sat Jun 08, 2019 1:37 pm

What is the current wisdom on rocker bolt retention? Are we still using those metal tabs you fold up against the bolt head? Some engine builders I've talked to recently say they prefer other methods. One uses regular lock washers. Another uses locktite, which doesn't seem like it would work unless you thoroughly cleaned the threads in the head first. Thoughts? - Steve Simmons, TC8975

Seve, The Tab washers are just fine and quite foolproof. That can lead to small metal shards infiltering the lube system. Sandy
