Ross, plus gas is for freeing seized fixings not for Removing rust.

He had several commercial products, as well as home brews: coca-cola, vinegar etc. He used ancient, heavily rusted rail road spikes as his test material. Long story short, he eliminated a bunch (coke, etc) then declared a tentative winner. He then put all the other spikes into the winning product to see if their condition improved, eliminating variations in spike material and condition as a variable. Every one improved when soaked for a few hours in the winning product.
This test was for removing heavy, pitted rust. Obviously not a lot of moving parts on a railway spike so penetrating rusty joints was not part of the test
The winner was an in house Eastwood Rust remover. I was surprised because I've always sworn by Naval Jelly and he declared it in an 'also ran'.
I can probably find a link to the video if anyone's interested. He claimed to be an unsponsored independant.

I am the owner of TC2456 and I am restoring a non-T-Type vehicle, but please don't stop reading because I need the advice of your collective wisdom.
There are a number of rusty steel parts that need serious de-rusting, and some of them have seized joints- for instance, a hood frame and brake linkages. What methods are recommended to do this? In the case of seized parts I have heard of soaking in diesel fuel or Plus Gas or WD40. What else can you suggest?
to remove general heavy corrosion from rusty steel items, such as steering and suspension parts, what is best? Dipping in something (what??), or grit blasting?
This vehicle also has an aluminium monocoque body from which I would like the paint removed to save me days with the Nitromors. I have heard that soda blasting or crushed glass blasting is good for this, whereas grit blasting will damage and stress the thin aluminium structure. Any recommendations?
If anyone is interested in knowing what the car is, I will set a little quiz for the answer. But first, let's deal with the issue of rust first.
Thanks everyone!
