Dodged a bullet!

Pulled the oil pan today and found the broken gear tooth from the oil pump on the top plate.  The cam gear looks fine but the #2 rod is damaged near the crankshaft (see photo - the sides of the rod are chipped - shiny in the photo).  Apparently the circlip broke, the cam pulled the pump gear down and the #2 rod banged away on it until I shut the engine down.  These are Saenz rods and I still have the original data sheet so I contacted Manley Ford he was putting in an order for rods next week so he ll order me a new one then.  Phew, cheaper than a new camshaft!
