Door pull

Found this on a search:

“MGA roadsters and coupes all shared a two-seat interior with leather upholstery on the seating areas and Vynide leathercloth on the sides and backs. While coupes featured exterior door latches and roll-up glass windows, [b][u]roadsters had pull-cord opening from the inside only[/u][/b]”

 

I can only guess my TD had one of these fitted by a PO.

The pull on the MGA is a steel wire on the inside of the door and attached to the latch mechanism at the rear. You have to reach inside an opening to get to it. It probably wouldn't be easily adapted to a TD. With a cord on a T-car door I would worry about accidental opening. And since the latch handle is so close to the occupants, I don't really see a need for a pull cord. Steve,

I am sensitive to the concern about inadvertently tugging on the cord and opening the door in mid-flight.  My hazy recollection has loose cord that would take more than snagging an elbow.  Nevertheless, you point about the dubious convenience is well taken.
