Emergency brake removal

Thanks to all those who responded to my question on how best to remove the brass rods that hold together the bonnet. New question: what is the easiest method of removing the emergency brake handle from the horizontal round tube that attaches to both sides of the chassis. I have removed the horizontal round tube from the chassis, but still need to separate the handle from the tube. Looks as though it requires grinding off the spot welds and rivets that hold the handle in place. Pretty drastic, it seems to me.

Why do you want to remove it.? Is it damaged. Needs rechrome?

Hi Andrea,
I knew about these when I did my rebuild but as I was getting a lot of chroming done I decided that removing the handle was the best option. It s not a big job to do.

Thanks to all those who responded to my question on how best to remove the brass rods that hold together the bonnet. New question: what is the easiest method of removing the emergency brake handle from the horizontal round tube that attaches to both sides
of the chassis. I have removed the horizontal round tube from the chassis, but still need to separate the handle from the tube. Looks as though it requires grinding off the spot welds and rivets that hold the handle in place. Pretty drastic, it seems to
me.

Fellows I used to make a swell Hand brake re-chrome / cover kit to do TC type hand brake handles I sold all off to Doug Pelton of From the Frame up , this kit was easy to install and you did not have to disassemble the car to do it . It was chrome on brass so it sparkled . I also used to sell to NTG so they may have some on the shelf
