Positive or negative polarity?

Hello group:
I recently purchased a '47 TC that is going to require full restoration. When I purchased the car, it was not running and had no battery. Does anyone know of an article I can reference that deals with how to check all the components affected by polarity. Specifically, how they can be checked to see if they are polarized and/or connected for positive ground?
