Transmission reverse gear fixed

Post by Bob Stein » Fri Jun 29, 2018 7:50 am

For those who may be interested, we got the reverse gear functioning again.  It seems to have been nothing more than gunk buildup over the decades.  A good cleaning in kerosene and fresh oil, with some working the gear back and forth, and the transmission is shifting smoothly in all gears.  There were a couple of instances of retrieving detent springs that performed high-dives into the gearbox - a dab of grease int he locator holes ended that.

Bob, it's one of the things any forget now, gearbox and diff oils need changing every 12,000 miles. Modern oils can be left in forever.
