Hi, For any people on the list in Southern England and within reach of Portsmouth I'd like make you aware of the Jim Stokes Open Day on June 24th. Click here for a link to his website and see the attached open day flyer. For those who don't recognise the name (I didn't until last year) Jim Stokes runs an amazing business restoring classic cars. He also builds replica Alfa Romeo engines from scratch. These are used by people who race at events like Goodwood Revival and don't want to wreck their priceless original engines, but that is just a small part of what he does. When I went to last year's open day he had several MGBs and a basket case MG SA undergoing restoration. Judging by the state of the SA I'd expect it is still there today. Each year he opens his workshops, just outside Portsmouth, to the public to raise money for the Macmillan Nurses charity. It's 5 for a bacon roll and coffee and another 5 to tour the workshops. Last year I stood on a balcony with Jim overlooking a collection of cars in just one of his workshops, where he told me I was looking at around 70million worth of classic cars! Unfortunately I won't be there this year but I can't recommend it enough to anyone close enough to attend. I promise you won't be disappointed. Peter Cole.
