Turn signal problem

Post by Neil Nelson » Mon Jun 04, 2018 11:20 pm

Group,
I believe the problem has been solved.  Got a call from Doug Pelton today, I had sent him the numbers off the SD84 turn signal switch I was using.  He determined it was wired for trafficators not turn signals.  He kindly sent me copies of instructions to rewire the switch.  He is also sending me a new proper switch.  I did not know there were two kinds of switches and wrongly assumed since it looked like the same switch they were all the same.  The trafficator version has some internal jumpers that cause the symptoms I was experiencing .  While waiting for the new switch to arrive I test wired the relay direct per instructions from the MG Guru and each side flashes as it should.
My thanks again to the forum for the many emails I received regarding a fix, location of reference material and general advice.  And a special thanks to Doug (From the Frame Up) for solving the problem for me.  Now it is on to finishing the wiring of the wiper motor, side curtains and top and we are on the road again.

P.S. Anyone in need of a SD84 turn signal switch wired for trafficators? I have one for sale......
