Hi Graham, I replaced mine with loose balls which I held in place with grease. From memory they are 1/4 inch. Regards Peter

Look at split flange Delrin or PTFE bearings, or non split bushing. No need for anything too sophisticated, just avoid metal to metal contact. Hi Graham,

 

You are correct, the caged bearings have been non-existent for the past few years. I am just in the final stages of manufacturing these and should be available beginning of the year.

 

Yes, as a work around you could use separate balls packed in grease but these can rub on each other and cause resistance. The purpose of the cage is to allow the balls to run independent with minimal friction.
