Errrr, TD back plate?? No such thing. If TD/TF/TF 1500 block all will accept the TC 3 bolt starter if you have the TC flywheel and starter ring with 93 teeth.

My error my TC has a TF 1250 engine, and apparently has a TD back plate and a TC flywheel.  The old starter has two bolts, but the TC Bendix and heavier shaft. Ah, the joys of substituting parts!

I just purchased a starter advertised as a TC starter on eBay.  When I got it, it turned out to have three mounting holes instead of two.  I checked the number online (255378) and found it listed for the 1.25 Litre 1947-49 Tourer and Saloon.  Did the YA/YT have different mounting plates?  Can this starter be used on the TC?  I suppose the extra mounting tab could be ground off.
