I have had a spare fuel tank waiting in the sidelines for TC5308 for four years. It had been serviced by Renu, and was stripped, primed and looked great. I had it painted to match TC5308 s Sequoia Cream and finished installing it last night with all new fittings and sending unit. It looked beautiful. It also leaked worse than the original tank. Same issue of stress cracks, but on both sides. My theory is that Renu stripped and lined the tank, which did not leak. Then I installed it and tightened the straps down, putting pressure on the cracks and opening them up again. I will pull the newly-painted tank and get it repaired, but I have a big show this weekend. My hope is that I can clean and repair the old tank with some fuel tank repair epoxy to make a temporary fix that will get me through the weekend. I just have to drive the car 20 miles, park it, and drive home 20 miles the next day. All with 3 gallons of gas or less in it per fire code restrictions. I ll give the quick repair a shot and let you know what happens. And yes, I am getting the new tank repaired properly cost me $350 to get it nicely painted.
