Gentlemen, seeing as it seems to have been my initial post that kicked this off, can I hopefully blow the whistle for full time on the subject as it seems to have 'veered' off in another direction .... although I suppose the subject was to do with TC steering!  (JOKE !! ... [img]https://ec.yimg.com/ec?url=https%3A%2F% ... V3G2Bg--~D[/img] ) I was not questioning the quality of aftermarket drop arms, or anything else, I was merely raising the point that there were dimensional differences between the arm supplied with the 'new' box, and the VW original.   Tweed ... about to fit me new box.

Good Morning Tweed, Good luck with the steering box, will you be doing this in your new garage? If its any interest to the group I recently had my BC box re-furbished, with the help of a friend and his hoist we removed the Datsun box and re-installed the BC box.  I have since driven over 1000 miles on Vancouver Island (mostly on a Classic Car Adventure run). The steering was much heavier with a little wiggle dead center but precise. I now plan to have the Datsun box checked over and will probably put it back. This is NOT an invite to re-open any discussion on which is better but just mentioned in passing to my friend Tweed.
