Dear Lords and Lassies; Is there such a thing as a Five Speed Tranny that can be fitted to our XPAG TC engines? Wondering if there would be an advantage to such a retrofit? Tally Ho! Thom Collins [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Why only five? If you're gonna do it, might as well go to a Borg Warner T-56 six speed. While you're at it, why not throw in a small block 'Vette at the same time and if that won't getcha to the church on time probl'y a Mustang II front end would graft right onto that ol' antiquated chassis complete with power assist and ventilated discs to bring you back down from mach II! After all, what the hell are these stupid ol' cars for anyways? Dear Badger; You rascal! Have you been sniffing Bridget Bardot's seat on that 1954 Simca? Been having trouble with that Pilot bushing again. Looking to the future if the Tranny has to be replaced etc. etc. Tally Ho! Thom Collins [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

The datsun B210 5 speed conversion can be purchased from: Skyhook Engineering, Steve Neal 1024 Mere Point Road Brunswick, Maine 04011 207-729-4489 Steve had adaptations for installation into TC, Y (LHD or RHD), TD or TF (LHD or RHD). The advantage would be lower operating engine rpm's at highway speeds, resulting in longer engine life between rebuilds. The TC factory gearbox is a well designed unit, far superior than the factory gearbox supplied for the TD/TF. Parts generally are available for the TC gearbox. Bob Grunau can supply some synchro parts. I have seen the other gearbox already been answered, It is a Ford Sierra gearbox (Mercury Merkur XR4TI for those in the states), modified, and adapted for installation into a T car. Where I have no experience with one, I have installed a few Skyhook Engineering ones into a TD and a TF. The installation is completely reveresable. No frame cutting was required. So, should anyone want to go back to original, they can. John Seim Irvine, CA

Fellows I have a kit for using that Datsun gearbox in a Sprite, made by Rivergate. But that is neither here nor there, I suggest you find the gearbox first, I lucked out with one from a fellow on this list, and got one other for another project, but they were not easy to find. The point being is that these boxes are like chicken lips, the kits are not the problem. Joe Curto [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
