Shorrocks oiling pin

I am finishing the assembly of an XPAG engine fitted with a Shorrocks
blower and I am in urgent need of the oiling pin and spring for the
engine pressurized oiling system. I have tried to contact John Bibby in
the UK but have not been able to reach him. I understand these pins
were supplied in diameters of .308-.310 in half thousands increments.
Can anyone tell me the details of the pin? overall length? is it stepped
for the spring? what material? The same with the spring, OD, length,
wire dia. and material. Any help would be appreciated.

If I were looking for that pin, he's the first guy I'd contact, even if he
didn't have it (but I'd bet he does) I'd be willing to bet he'd know exactly
where to get it.

Note that the following only applies to the systems fed from the engine oil
pressure; I don't know anything about the earlier (?) gravity / air pressure
fed systems.
You are correct on the outside diameters; mine runs on a "C" pin (this is
stamped on the end) which is 0.309in OD which is probably a good starting
point. I made up some of different diameters to see the effect but the
original "C" seemed fine in the end.
The length of the main body of the pin is 1.030in where it is then stepped
down to 0.185in OD for a further 0.150in in length to hold the spring.
The original pin is some kind of steel; not sure what; I used silver steel.
The originals have fine ground finish (which I could not reproduce).
I cannot give details of the spring until I take it apart again. However,
as a guide, the ID of the spring gripps the peg on the end of the pin, the
OD obviously fits within pin carrier so is less than 0.308in and the length,
from memory, is about 3/8in. Its a fairly weak spring; I am not sure how
critical the spring is since it must spend must of the time fully
compressed; maybe it is just to stop the pin sticking.

James,
Thank you for your response on the oiling pin, I will use your dimensions to
machine a pin and search for a suitable spring. I agree that the spring
pressure would seem to be fairly non critical. I have been told it was only
there to assist in pushing the pin out during normal service and
replacement.
