The rubber strip at the bottom of the windshield frame on TC 7915 needs to
be replaced. I have a new Moss replacement but am not sure if it can be
installed without taking the frame apart and sliding it in from the end. I
would rather leave the old on in place if it is a big project to
replace. I'm short on time.

I've replaced those on several of our cars over the years, and it was pretty
easy to slide the old one out and new one in without disturbing anything.

I just replaced a strip with Moss strip. No problem, I used some liquid soap
and started one edge in and then used a small screwdrive to push the othe
side in . Just work your way from one side to the other.

Alan, It will slid into the grove via the openings on the bottom of the
frame for the two flat headscrews used to hold the frame together. Use some
KY Jelly on the rubber for lubrication and it should slid right on, it did
for me just the other day on a TD ( the same thing) restoration I have been
working on. Good Luck, I hopr this helps you.
Cheers Fig

Alan
I have referred to this before. There are a number of variations around and
some are thicker on the little section at the 'top' of the T making
installation difficult. I literally had to grind one down to fit. I explored
local rubber suppliers and found this section (it is an industry standard)
with a much thinner top. I am in Birmingham UK and obtained it from Allied
Rubber 0121 554 6421 at a very modest cost.
BTW talcum powder is less messy than lubricants IMO

Re: Rubber strip windshield/cowl
I've installed both the Moss Motors Strip (280-290), and the Abingdon
Spares (43/002) Strip. Either one can be installed, with the windshield
frame on the car. Cut one end into a "V", and insert into one end of the
channel. There are two (2) round openings, for the angle bracket screws,
at either end of the bottom windshield piece. Insert rubber into
outermost round opening, and pull across until exiting through round
opening at other end. Cut the rubber strip at an angle, coming from the
frame bracket, into the corner of the bottom windshield piece.
The Moss rubber cross-section is a little too large for the channel.
Apply silicone spray, silicone grease, dish washer liquid soap, or
rubber lubricant, to the rubber, before installion. It is a two handed,
two person pull, to install the rubber. The length of rubber extending
from the windshield to the cowl appears to be the correct length.
The Abingdon Spares rubber installs easily, with only one person
required to install it. The length of rubber extending from the
windshield to the cowl, is a little shorter.
I initially installed a Moss strip onto a car. I had it pulled so
tight, that it sprung back onto itself by 1/2", after I had trimmed it,
and it had set in the channel for a few days. If you install the Moss
Strip, wait a few days, before trtimming it to size.
