Hi Group, Not that old chestnut again I hear you cry!!! On a slightly different slant, does anyone know the part number of the Torrington washer that goes under the cover in the steering box? Thanks in advance Steve TC4219 -------------------- talk21 your FREE portable and private address on the net at http://www.talk21.com

Steve The Bishop Cam Box does not have a Torrington bearing fitted under the cover. You probably have a "Thomkins Kit" fitted. Various people make these kits, and you may therefore find various sizes of Torrington needle roller thrust bearings. You can get the information you need via http://www.torrington.com/ Alan Webster TA 3239

Bishop Cam Steering box

Post by A.griffin » Sun Jan 30, 2005 4:12 pm

Hi all, Walter has just added to the technology section of the mg-tabc web site, servicing instruction sheets for the Bishop Cam steering box, which I had in my files. Because of the recent number of comments regarding the BC steering box I thought they may be of interest to all.I still use a completely standard steering box in my special. I have a hardened top plate to minimise wear on the plate, but I am not sure if this is so in a standard box, as it was already fitted to the box when I obtained it. The steering is more precise than the Datsun box in my standard TC. It is more rigidly mounted than the standard mount which probably helps.
