Windscreen Wiper

I am trying to mount the wiper to the windscreen. Although Sherrell (p.205) goes in to some detail; I have a couple of questions based on the 30 year old "remains" I am resurrecting: Is there any type of gasket between the Bakelite spacer and the windscreen frame? Should the be anything between the chromed plate and the outside of the frame apart from the felt washer (I have the remains of a rubber gasket). Does anyone sell these bits and pieces? John: There is a cork gasket between the bakelite piece and the frame, and also under the chrome plate. On the outside of the plate are two small corks under the dished washers. I do have these bits. Great question, Peter. TC 7794's wiper motor has an annoying rattle/knock when traversing rough roads. Perhaps someone has experience in these matters. Bob Brennan S. Freeport, ME

I've completely given up on my TC's wipers. Have fitted NOS motor, taken motors apart and reconned them, rebuilt linkages goodness knows how many times. I've simply resorted to liberal doses of rainex. On a recent 1200 mile tour to the Australian MG Nat-meet the trip home of some 500 miles was done entirely in the rain, heavy rain. The Rainex worked a treat and has lead be to the decision to stick with it rather than waste any more money on trying to make the originals work... Murray Arundell Brisbane Australia

The original wipers can be made to work properly. Rainex does work, but really--what a cop-out! Joseph Lucas & Co. forever! -Rick, in Rainy Vancouver
