I rebuilt my bench back with a new spring unit and leather from Moss.( the
original was too far gone).
I find it very "high" on the outside edges. When you sit in the car you
almost want to slide toward the middle. I cant remember if this was the
situation with the original set, although as it was so old it had very
little springing left any way.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Ive still got a very original one, the springs in excellent condition
and there is no tendency to fall into the middle
