More carpet questions

I've got a few more questions about installing the carpets in my TC. First, I would like to that everyone who replied to my last set of questions. I started fitting the front carpets and then got to wondering if they should go underneath the rubber transmission cover. I didn't think they did, but thought I should ask. And how does the carpet fit around the speedometer and tach cables and wires going thru the top of the foot ramp? The carpet came with a cutout to go around the steering column, but nothing else. Does it just lay up against them the best it can? Or should the carpet be cut to go around them? Thanks again, Charles Hill
