OK OK OK
Guys that's enough. Lets stick to MGTABC and keep out of Geek
Land. We have flogged this virus thing to death and I for one have
better things to do than wade through tons nerd waffle. Soon I'll be
forced to call in the Bullshit Police!!
Maybe the next digest will mention MGs of something
Now something for idle brains from which you will deduce that I am
fitting the cream car's screen:-
TCs originally had TRIPLEX TOUGHENED windscreens. On one
example I have here, there is a dot above the "i" in Triplex and a dot
below the "e" of toughened. There is also an X below the "p" in triplex
and also above the "o" and "e" of Toughened.
I am told that you can date the screen from this...........this must be
simple to one of you Nerds

Sorry you feel that way, Viv, but keep in mind that many (possibly most)
MG-TABC list members are fairly new to PCs and the Internet, so don't have
the knowledge they need to prevent virus infections. If the list gets hit
by a storm of infected messages, as it did last week, then it's in
everyone's interest to know how to deal with it.
Several of us have recommended to Jim and Walter that the MG-TABC list be
reconfigured on YahooGroups to block e-mail file attachments. If that can
be done it will block 99.9% of virus-carrying e-mail, since most viruses
are transmitted in the form of a file attachment. That will solve the
problem, at least until the virus writers find some other way to transmit
virus by e-mail.
A final word (from me, anyway) about Klez.H: See
http://www.bcpl.net/news/news.20020421a.klez for a writup that pulls
together info from a variety of anti-virus sites.

Viv,
I might fit the Nerd category but hate to have it applied to me - so let me just say I searched the internet and found this for you (not sure that it helps identify your glass though):
Triplex.
The date code of this company is shown in dots above or below words in the company motif. The year is shown by a dot under one of the letters of the word 'laminated' (where this applies to a windscreen) or 'toughened' (this being the most common). A dot under the first letter of either word represents a year ending in a '1': e.g. 1961/1971. A dot under the second letter would represent 1962/1972, and so on.
Although only a single dot is used the format showing which
letter represents each year is as follows -
LAMINATED TOUGHENED
1234567890 1234567890
Prior to january 1969, only the quarter was shown using a dot above the letters 'T', 'R', 'E' and 'X' of the word Triplex:
T-1st, R-2nd, E-3rd and X-4th.
.
TRIPLEX
TOUGHENED = 3rd quarter 1964
.
After January 1969 the month is shown by one, two, or three
dots above the letters 'T', 'R', 'E' and 'X' of the word
Triplex, as follows:
.
January Triplex
.
february Triplex
.
march Triplex
.
april Triplex
.
.
may Triplex
.
..
june Triplex
.
. .
july Triplex
.
. .
august Triplex
.
. .
september Triplex
.
. .
october Triplex
.
..
november Triplex
.
.
December Triplex
Example: may 1970 =
.
.
Triplex toughened
.
Best,
Gene Gillam
