Yahoo Groups.

Can someone explain to me the difference between Yahoo Groups and TABC Gallery? I am really digitally challenged. I was under the impression that when someone posted something to the "net", it was to the TABC gallery. Apparently that was not a good assumption. Is there some where all of this is set forth in dummie language?
