Repairing rear main seal leaks without modifying the block

Hi guys,
This attachment is a drawing of the area where you put the JB Weld in order
to remedy the rear main leaks.
It is kindly provided by Walter in Germany who is doing this repair to his
car.
The area in red is where the JB is used to build up an area worn by "whip"
over the years (some cars have excess clearance here anyway!).
Clean the area to be built up thoroughly, abrade slightly with sandpaper or
such, wrap the Archimedes screw on the crank with a thin layer of Teflon
tape, BE SURE to apply mold release agent of some kind to areas where you do
not want the JB to adhere (the drain area is not so important- you can
remove it in some areas with a Dremel tool), apply the JB then torque the
crank into position and leave it for 24 hours.
JB Weld will withstand 600F in temp, and is HARD!
Material that stands proud of the main cap area (where the tape on the
Archimedes screw allows it to form a bump) can be carefully removed.
The screw now has the clearance that allows it to prevent the oil running
out.
No block mods, no leaks.
Best,
Ray
