If memory serves, most of his writing appeared in Mechanix Illustrated magazine back then. I always looked forward to reading his writings each month if for nothing else than his ability to communicate a concept so clearly by his use of creative wordsmithing. Phrases such as "happier than a clam under an oatmeal dock" and "the ride was like being in a bubble-bath in the Queen Mary in a gentle sea" and others like those you mentioned have remained happily in my mind over the many years since they first appeared in the 1950's.
