Badger... I agree that our cars are about freedom and sex.. great summary, and for the same reasons you cite. But some time ago, I suggested that we somehow identify the subject line with some symbol ( maybe "[]" ?) for the light stuff (or label the strictly technical... either would help) so that our 450-plus-members can leave them to read when they have more time, and don't have to open up one-liners that are a) misleadingly identified with a long-gone subject, and b) drag along 17KB of everybody else's one liners. Both represent the consequence of a few of us that are too lazy to use common courtesy, or possibly because we think our comments are so important or so funny that we can't wait to hit the send button before editing out what everyone's already read eight times. Your credentials in age, experience or sense of humor are no more impressive than anyone else's, including mine. I suspect that I was consulting at the General Motors Technical Center, racing TC's at Thompson, Ct. and using that car as my first motel before you had your driver's license, all which is equally underwhelming. That has nothing to do with the problem, which seems to get worse as we grow. Everyone gets a kick out of your musings, certainly me included, and one day, when we're all hooked up in real time, like a ham radio net, we'll enjoy them even more. For now, though, I have always hated to see people leave the list, because it's always for the same reason as Ross. These are great people (how can they be otherwise, if they care about our cars?), many of whom I've gotten to know off list... they're just plain busy. I'm sure we've got lots of people out there who would contribute more if they didn't feel that the "crap" has gone beyond critical mass, as it has for Ross. I hope that others, not yet heard from, will suggest ways to clean up our act without losing more people that simply have too much on their screens. I blow off policemen too. Austin (with Datsun steering), off the air until March 22, so relax.
