I am preparing to install my Mike Collingburn interior kit and am trying to decide what to use around the rear wheel arches for padding. I do not think I want to use the cotton padding Mike sent as I have heard and read much about the cotton absorbing water and thus rust forming afterwards. I have read some who say use a polyester stuffing/padding but I would think that whether the padding was cotton or polyester will not change the amount of moisture getting trapped under the vinyl wheel arch cover..its the air of course that carries the moisture. I have also heard it recommended that a foam rubber material be used..as no moisture can be introduced once the kit is installed. I imagine though that installing foam rubber will not give the same look as a puffy padding.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Rob,
I used a 1/4" foam padding under mine and it looks and feels puffy to me. I couldn't tell much difference between what mine looks like and what the others look like.

Rob, I used a thin closed cell rubber foam........looks good. Doing that
part of the restoration on the TA was THE most tedious part of the whole
thing!

I rebuilt my TA with 3 goals in mind:
1. must look good, I think it does
2. must be reliable and able to go anywhere........35,000 miles later this is
proven
3. must never, ever rust again........I used closed cell padding, I defy
anyone to tell the difference.......and it will never, ever promote rust.
