Still not managed to separate clutch housing from flywheel housing on TA 0844, it seems that the gearbox mainshaftspline is seized in the clutch driven plate. Someone out there must have had this problem. Any solutions? .....Bob

I think you'll have to turn to the SVW crowd for advice. Try David Washbourne: david@mgsa.freeserve.co.uk or Peter Ratcliff at 01964 671046 Good luck Terry

Hi Bob,

I had a similar problem with a Morris Minor engine and solved it by removing the six bolts that hold the clutch cover to the flywheel. Access to the bolts was through the clutch inspection hole.

The TA has a starter pinion cover held on by three small bolts. Looks to me if you remove the cover, you should be able to get a wrench on the six clutch cover bolts one at a time by turning the engine. Once the clutch cover is free, you, should be able to remove the gearbox with clutch. Now penetrating oil and gentle tapping on the driven disc should free it. Good luck.
