TC - details

I've just spent a ridiculous amount of time removing all the paint and rust from the 4 panels that make up the TC bonnet/hood for the first time since November 1945. I was surprised to find my chassis number (301) stamped in the metal of the driver-side side panel, underneath the front corner where the rubber corner piece would cover it. I believe I've read just about everything on TC's, but I've never heard of the chassis number stamped here before. Any other sitings? If the panels were cut to fit, it would make sense to stamp them before they went to the paint shop.... John Steedman TC 0301
