Hi All,
R.e. The Cecil Kimber run that some of you more hardy souls
indulged in, do any of you MG historians know if Cecil Kimber had a holiday
cottage in Runswick Bay, North Yorkshire? I joined the US contingent on
their tour of the UK some years ago albeit in my brothers Morgan +8 as the
TB was not yet finished, and they came across from York to Runswick Bay and
I seem to think there was some connection.
Had the TB out today after great difficulty trying to solve an intermittant
charging problem, turned out not to be the dynamo but the cut-out assy.
Behind the resistance coils the varios contacts are joined by brass strips
rivetted to the terminals. One of these had broken almost invisible and was
only found by continuity testing whilst moving the strip/s. Now soldered and
appears to be OK.
Whilst having a brew got talking to a guy who imports old motorbikes from
South Africa and is bringing in a 1948 TC with allegedly only 5000 miles on
the clock, looks very good from the photo if anybodies interested he,s
ringing me up on Wednesday prior to going back to S.A. Car will be in the
U.K. in May.
PS Never met this guy before in my life, I was just parked up in Helmsley!
