I am sure some of us TA ( &B,C) restorers would require only instrument faces, the rest of the instrment (gauge ) being ok or restorable. Anyone know a source?..Bob

I think that Nissonger still does it. If they just need cleaning and a little spiffing up, go with the Whitworth Shop. I just had all my 52 TD instruments returned from instruments@vintagerestorations.com They did an outstanding job. They may be a bit pricey but I am satisfied. They really look great!!! 52 MGTD #17700

Unfortunately, the TD gauges are a whole ''nother ball game. It's just the numbers. They built 3003 TA's, 379 TB's, 10,000 TC's and 29,664 TD's. The early TD 's used up what was left of the TC instruments. As a result, the TC-TD instruments are easily found. The two pre-war cars are a bit of a different deal. The TB especially is rather a research project on its own because some of it is the same as the TA and some of it is not. Some carried over to the TC, a lot did not. Vintage does very good work but they usually do the gauges to look like TC gauges; we are trying to have the dials redone just as they were when new! And it's tough! Whoops! I guess I should have read more of the remarks of others... My guages were a variety when I got my M Type MG, vintage 1929... John Marks of Vintage scrambles to find a couple of originals to replace the Stewart Warner substitutes... He rebuilt the Smiths speedo/odometer I had found at Beaulieu to the proper PCN specification, repainted the dials to the early M Type creme color(were black) ---- and restored the back side of the panel including the complex wiring block, pins, broken studs, etc. Of course, once installed, who's to see the back, but it looks new, if anyone asks... So! you guessed it I'm delighted with his work...... Thanks John..... BOB P.S. The gauges don't look like MG TC variety, or even like P, J, K, L,or WAs..... Ray wrote:
