The width of the seal carrier is a few thou more and the sealing lip rides
slightly forward centering better on the flange. There also is a return on
the metal seal carrier on the engine side that returns towards the c/l of
the crank. It acts like a slinger pehaps. I couldnt use the speedisleeve
because the seal return would have contacted the return on the speedisleeve.
It may be that my crank is not original and has a slightly thinner flange.
However, the flange is well finished and I believe that the sleeve would
have been redundant. I got the information from an article by Charlie Key of
British Cars of America and forwarded to me from Moss motors.. I' ve
attached it and perhaps if you think it's warranted you could stick it in
the
files.
